    Palm Cottage Stunk for us

    The pictures looked nice on line. I think, if the place was clean and smelled better, we could have had a nice time there. The location is good. Eventually, after many, many calls, texts, messages, they finally returned some of our fee.

    When we checked in, there was a very strong smell of mildew. We asked for help and the manager told us to just wait and see if it got better. We didn't feel that was pleasant or maybe not even healthy and asked for a refund. They didn't want to help and did many things to delay resolving the matter. We appealed to booking.com. Eventually, after many, many calls, they refunded only 50% of our fee. We are consistent travelers. We've stayed in many different booking and other properties over the years. The one thing you are looking for, as a traveller is not only "vetting" the property, but also the ownership/management team. Things do go wrong, from time to time, as everyone knows. Some management teams will bend over backwards to help if there is a problem. Some, like Palm cotteges, just made everything "stink". When they could have helped quickly and completely, they kept 1/2 the money, didn't return call from booking.com requesting permission to refund us, waited for many, many "pings". It was exhausting and unnecessary.

    We really enjoyed staying at the Palm Cottage. It's such a cute, clean and comfortable place. Very close to the main shopping area in Montecito and the beach. The hosts are very professional and responsive. Definitely will be back!

    A really great place for a relaxing fun weekend in Montecito.

    Great location and an adorable house. It was easy to get in and out of, walking or biking distance to shops and restaurants.

    Nothing. The bikes had flat tires but that is all I can think of.
