    Fabulous, luxurious, with wonderful staff.

From the moment I arrived I was welcomed by a friendly member of staff. Check in was swift. Staff always said hello to you and helped me out with my limited Portuguese. I had a large room for one night then requested another which was quieter. I went out for the day and when I came back everything had been sorted and I switched to a lovely, quiet room which was large and stylish. There was also a large communal, beautifully-tiled sitting room in the hotel. I often read there on my own. I was meeting my family in Cascais and we decided to come back to my hotel one evening for a drink. We could happily have sat in the hotel garden but a member of staff asked us if we would like to use the palacial sitting room. So me, my sister and her husband, and my brother and his wife enjoyed a lovely evening in luxurious surroundings. Breakfast was great too - cheese, ham, fruit, breads, coffee, juices, but also a choice of a cooked small breakfast. Once again the members of staff were superb and friendly. It was such a lovely hotel, great building, lovely grounds, super rooms but above all it was the friendliness of the staff which stood out.

On one evening my family and me came for a nightcap but weren't made to feel welcome at all by one member of staff and indeed left sitting around for a long time waiting to order a drink by a second member of staff. We eventually aborted that evening and I retired to bed. I have fed this back to the hotel because it was so out of character compared to the rest of the staff and my overall experience. It did not detract from my overall enjoyment as the majority of staff I interacted with were superb. I wish all hotels had staff like that and it made me want to return soon.
