Charming historic home with plenty of space and amenities. The owner is attentive, organized, and excellent in her management of the place. The dinner and breakfast were a delight and the trail lunch was a highlight for the next day. All amazing meals

Delightful stay in a warm and authentic home

We only stayed for a few days, but would have happily stayed for a few months. This is a home more than a guest house and we felt like we wanted to live there from the first night. Kumanoyasai is spacious, with a generous living area and comfortable, tasteful furniture and real character. Had all the amenities we required, we loved sitting in the front of the house with the windows open to take the evening breeze and sounds in and then slept so well in the futon provided. Shino was a kind, welcome and attentive host who welcomed us upon arrival, showed us around the house, and gave us some great tips to make the most of our stay in the area. We kept in touch over WhatsApp throughout and we were even able to see the local fireworks a short car ride away. I warmly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to be able to stay there after several long trips around Japan over the years.

Nothing, really. It’s up a short but narrow road so I guess for people that would find that tricky to navigate on foot it is good to be aware, but there is parking available (both above and below) so it really wasn’t an issue at all.

The home was very beautiful and cozy, amenities were great, Shino was a great host, and the food she prepared for us was amazing. Our favorite meal from Shino was breakfast - it was the perfect way to start our hiking days!
