Our villa was absolutely incredible and, without a doubt, the best accommodation I have ever stayed in. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the minibar was fantastic, and I even had a staff member help prepare a bubble bath, which was a wonderful touch. The property itself is stunning, and the staff were always friendly and polite. The villa truly exceeded our expectations.
Unfortunately, the service fell far short of five-star standards. Having worked in hospitality myself and stayed at numerous luxury resorts, I found the lack of experience, training, and organization particularly noticeable. Many of the restaurant staff appeared extremely young and new to the industry. While everyone has to start somewhere, at a resort of this caliber, I would expect at least a handful of experienced hospitality professionals guiding the team. In fact, an Australian gentleman who appeared to be a manager was one of the only people we encountered who seemed to have genuine hospitality experience and the knowledge to deliver five-star service. The rest of the team often appeared disorganized and unsure of what they were doing. Service was consistently slow throughout our stay. Even a beer could take 20–30 minutes to arrive. On one occasion, breakfast took approximately 45 minutes, and I had to remind the server about our order after 30 minutes. My husband also gave up ordering dessert at lunch after waiting over 20 minutes for someone to approach our table. We learned not to order second drinks because they would likely arrive when we were ready to leave. Even small details, such as receiving the focaccia bread offered to other tables, were overlooked. Our dinners typically cost $200–$500 for two people, yet the service was consistently poor. The Creole BBQ buffet was particularly disappointing at $123 per person, with both food quality and service nowhere near what that price should command. These weren’t isolated incidents. The service was so consistently slow that we actually began dreading dining at the resort. Unfortunately, it gave us the impression that profitability is being prioritized over investing in adequate staffing, training, and experienced management. The staff themselves were lovely, but they clearly needed better guidance and support. Beautiful villas alone do not make a five-star resort.
