My experience in Diyarbakir
I enjoyed my one-week stay in Diyarbakir. This was my first time visiting Turkey. I had a great experience with the hotel staff at the Ramada by Wyndham Diyarbakir (hotel where I stayed at) and with the local Turkish people. The neat thing about the place where I stayed was that it was walking distance to the Ceylan Karavil Park Shopping Mall, which had everything I needed, including various places to eat and shop (clothes as well as grocery stores) and several currency exchange ATMs (on the lower floor). I was not scammed by any taxi drivers. The hotel also did my laundry very affordably. I had no issues while visiting there other than not being able to speak the language. The hotel staff spoke English. Also, I could always use the translator on my iphone for clarification. I even walked around the city at nighttime alone with no one bothering me. Sometimes, during the day, some Syrian women and children beggars would hold out their hands asking for money but they were not really a nuisance. I also stayed at the Radisson Blue. One thing that I noticed with the hotels in Turkey that I stayed at, that was different than the hotels in the U.S., was that I first needed to swipe my card on the elevator in order for it to take me to my room.
