Beautiful but sanitation needs to be taken more seriously

I liked the island, it was beautiful and the room was beautiful. The couples five course complimentary dinner was absolutely fantastic. Had a great time snorkeling round the island. The water villas are amazing and the view is something out of this world. The staff were very friendly and when they forgot our departure date and we complained, this was swiftly resolved. Their shops at the resort really has everything you would need for the resort and some fun keepsakes to take home with you. I got some cashmere pashmina’s for myself and my in-laws and they were just awesome and so soft.

A couple of things Firstly, our towels were not changed for days Secondly, there are no basic life guards in the property, they don’t even have long sticks for retrieving things that fall in the ocean, when my hat fell into the ocean we asked for a long stick to help us retrieve it and there was none, my husband had to swim to retrieve the hat all this while the tide was going out and advised by the hotel staff to jump in and get it. He ended up being cut up by the corals and was almost swept out into sea. Thirdly, there were mice all over the resort just wandering around and I saw quite a few close to the main restaurant. I also got really sick and it was my honeymoon with the water they provided. I couldn’t keep anything down for four days on a 6days holiday. As soon as we landed back at male and I drank water I started to feel better and like a human again. They also got our departure date wrong even though we told them this several times via email, face to face upon arrival only to be told the eve of our departure that we were scheduled to leave a day after. To their credit this was quickly resolved but it just seemed so stressful at the time on top of me being poorly. It’s a beautiful resort and the staff yes they need more training but all in all they were very friendly and nice. I’ve never wanted to leave a holiday resort as much as this because I knew the water was making me sick so I didn’t eat anything for days and because there was no other option of water than the ones they provided, I was just progressively getting worse.
