    Beautiful hotel in beautiful location. Dinner was exceptional! Just a few touches to make better

    Large patio window/doors give exceptional view but were locked, and the room didn't get aired consequently. TV quite small. Fridge in room would have been nice. Room had kettle but these days we tend to expect modern coffee machine with pods.

    A thoroughly enjoyable experience

    The location is perfect for visiting the sites in the National park and Hadrian's Wall l. The hotel retains it's charm. The staff are all exceptional, genuinely friendly and always ready to help. They are clearly committed to their work, including the young members of staff. The food was delicious, with lots of variety, consistently to the same high standard.

    It is a real shame that the swimming pool is not more easily accessible. The vertical ladder access made it impossible for me to use.

    Really enjoyed it

    Ok it’s a tired hotel - but I loved my stay there it was friendly - great value 2 course dinner - lovely staff - honestly accept it’s run down realise that before you get there and have a great time - I had the pool to myself too

    Tired worn out carpets etc
