Unfortunately disappointed, expected a lot better :(
Firstly all staff were lovely and friendly. Hotel was clean, had nice bright reception area and nice interior.
We were told on arrival there were 2 wedding's on both nights we were staying and asked if that was okay which seemed a bit late considering we'd already arrived. Would have liked to be advised of this prior in hindsight. We then got given our room which unfortunately looked onto the car park and was located in a dark area. We thought with the price we paid (approx $450 per night) we'd have had a better room location and after biting the bullet to go to pay extra to try move to a water view, we were told the hotel was full and there was no other options to move. The wedding on the 2nd day's ceremony was held right next to the pool, with part of the route to the pool blocked off forcing people to have to walk round to an alternative entry on other side of hotel. It was also very awkward sitting by a pool in swimwear, 5 metres away from 50 people listening to vows and someone being walked down the isle. Another small note was when we went to order drinks by the pool on the QR codes present to which we were suprised by a $5 surcharge to deliver drinks to the pool side (approx a 50m walk from the bar). We were also charged $15 per night to park our car outside in the car park and at one stage had to get reception to open an overload car park because the wedding had filled. The hall ways were loud after hours (11pm onwards) and location of room next to car park wasnt great due to people leaving after wedding, with taxi pick ups etc waking us up multiple times. I'm not personally one for leaving reviews and usually accept what given when going to hotels, however, paying almost $900 for 2 nights in Port Maq, i did expect a little more and was overall dissappointed. The staff were lovely, it just seemed a bit of an oversight from a managerial stand point on all the things listed above. I think if weddings are to be held at the venue, non wedding guest should be located in a specific area or reservations on that days blocked off for wedding guests only.
