  Lack of privacy and security in the accommodation

  My stay was extremely disappointing and I ended up leaving after just one night of a five night booking. The apartment was advertised as a one bedroom apartment with a private entrance. Although I was informed that it was located above a bike shop, I was not expecting the accommodation to be separated from the shop by just two curtains with no proper door, lock or secure physical barrier. The shop entrance which appeared to be the only entrance to the building was directly in front of the staircase and was sometimes left fully open. Conversations and noise from the shop could also be heard clearly upstairs. As a woman staying alone, I did not feel that the accommodation offered the privacy or security I would expect from a private apartment. I raised these concerns with the owner and explained that I would not have booked the property had I known there was no proper physical separation between the apartment and the shop. His response was that I was the first person to complain about this. I ultimately felt uncomfortable staying there and had to find alternative accommodation at short notice which was extremely stressful. When I requested a refund, the owner refused on the basis that the booking was non-refundable. My complaint is not that I simply changed my mind or chose to leave early. It is that the actual setup of the accommodation did not meet my expectations of a private apartment. I would strongly advise future guests to clarify how the apartment is accessed and whether there is a proper secure physical separation from the business below before booking.

  L'Irlanda vera, lontana dalle luci e dai clamori

  Soggiornare nel silenzio della campagna irlandese, davanti ad un canale, con un pub spettacolare come Lock 13, con la fermata del treno a 3 minuti a piedi dall'alloggio e a mezz'ora di treno da Dublino non ha paragoni.
