    Marukoma was memorable because it reflected the calm vastness and gentle welcome of Hokkaido.

    Although the retreat was far away from attractions/ to-dos, it is truly peaceful and clean. All the staff were very helpful and patient. We could borrow an adaptor plug (their only one)! The Kaiseki meal served with fish caught from Lake Shikotsu was fantastic! The breakfast was outstanding too.

    Fantastic base for exploring this part of Hokkaido.

    My wife and I spent a few days here in September and had a great time. The staff were wonderful, despite not being fluent in English and our limited Japanese, and the half board option meals were great. The lakeside onsen pool was a particular highlight.
