    I rarely have to complain about Airbnb accommodation used by us and marketed through Booking.com which I use many, many, times each year. I am gobsmacked at the positive reviews which bear no resemblance to what my wife and I experienced. Yes, Newcastle and surrounds are beautiful and should be experienced and yes, the property location is excellent. The property, as advertised, has no sea views (it is in a sylvan setting with circa 40 ft trees blocking the sea view), no outdoor furniture or inner courtyard existed. Inside the property furniture, apart from dining table/chairs, is skip material. The apartment is full of clutter which prevents it being properly cleaned (asthma sufferers beware). The bedlinen was badly worn and balled ( a note was left re this). There were 2 microwaves cluttering the kitchen -one of which appeared to be redundant and was filthy. The kitchen contents were made up of mismatched cutlery, and the cookware pots/pan were very dirty. There was a large dead spider languishing at the back of the fridge! There were several old food stains on the oilcloth. The T.V. in the bedroom did not function. The apartment is advertised as two bathrooms. This is not the case – there is one bathroom and a guest toilet unit. The floors creaked endlessly. We felt sorry for the people below. Worst of all, the apartment is a potential fire hazard. There are extension plugs galore in all the rooms– one of which has 7 plugs going to one electrical socket. The dishwasher had to be switched off as it could cause a break in the general electricity supply! The owner, Jill Stinton must be aware of this as we were asked to isolate all power points before leaving the property. What more can we say…..

    Beautiful apartment in a stunning part of the world.

    Beautiful homely apartment. Had everything you could need. Great spot for exploring the beautiful mountains of Mourne and Newcastle. B

    It was a good walk into town but it didn’t bother us.
