    A Hidden Gem

The Secret Cottage is tucked away in a hidden lane in a central location in Sedbergh. This cottage is furnished with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The spiral staircase was challenging but with care, easy to navigate. Without hesitation I would stay here again.

    No negative comments.

    Disappointing

    Location

Unfortunately, our experience at this cottage was extremely disappointing. We booked 5 nights but had to leave after just 2 due to the amount of dust and animal fur, which triggered a severe allergic reaction and made it impossible for us to stay safely. We regularly stay in small, pet-friendly villages for hiking and have never experienced an allergic reaction like this before. We therefore found the condition of the cottage particularly concerning. We informed the host, but were shocked by the lack of empathy or concern. We were asked to provide photographic evidence of the allergic reaction, which is unreasonable as an allergic reaction cannot simply be photographed. Despite leaving early due to our health, the host refused any refund for the remaining 3 nights, not even allowing Booking.com to provide a 1% refund. Very grateful that my wife and I were able to afford alternative accommodation, as not everyone would have that option. However, the lack of compassion throughout the situation was genuinely shocking. There were also other issues, including a shower that ran extremely hot, downstairs tv has no signal and remote buttons don’t work and an uncomfortable foam mattress. Spotty wifi, would benefit with a booster. Sadly, we cannot recommend this property. The cleanliness concerns, additional issues, and particularly the lack of empathy when our health was affected left us extremely disappointed.

    Great little cottage

Lovely little cottage, close to everything in Sedbergh, free parking on streets or 2 carparks nearby. Drop off suitcase point outside a pink cottage, secret cottage is behind the pink cottage. Dog friendly.

Only a mild complaint, neither of us couldn't turn down the hot water in shower, so shower was very hot!
