    A perfect location in Funchal with a lovely harbour view

    We had an excellent stay at Solar do Ribeiro! The location is ideal — just a 15-minute walk from Funchal’s harbour and the busy tourist areas, yet far enough away to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Despite being away from the crowds, we had a beautiful view of the harbour from our balcony and could even watch the cruise ships docked there. Having a private parking space was a huge advantage in Funchal, where finding parking can be challenging. Guests also have access to a shared rooftop terrace, although we never felt the need to use it, as our own balcony was very comfortable, with chairs and a table — perfect for enjoying the view. The apartment was spacious enough for two people, with plenty of room for our belongings and a generously sized bathroom. It was very well equipped with everything we needed, including kitchen utensils and appliances, so we were able to prepare our own dinner one evening. We particularly appreciated the coffee machine with filters provided — all we needed to buy was some coffee. There was also a full-sized dishwasher, a washing machine, and a clothes dryer, which came in very handy after spending time at the beach. The ceiling fans were especially useful during the warm nights, keeping the apartment comfortable. The self-check-in process was also very straightforward, thanks to the clear and detailed instructions provided by the hosts. Overall, Solar do Ribeiro was a fantastic base for exploring Funchal and the rest of Madeira. It offered an excellent combination of location, comfort, practical amenities, and a lovely sea view. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it!
