I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's absolutely ideal location—close to trains, buses, shopping, and restaurants—and, whenever I needed to arrange something further afield (like a ferry), it was also near taxis and trams.

Great accommodation, not a great greeting
The room and location were amazing. Super comfortable! The bus to the airport is literally on the ground floor, you just need to go down the lift. Train station is across the road with a big mall in front. Great place if you need quick/easy access to transports in Kagoshima.
I found the reception staff to be rather unwelcoming. I was trying to explain that I couldn’t complete the check-in using the self-service machine because I hadn’t included my full name in the reservation. Despite explaining that the passport check wasn’t working, the staff kept insisting that I try again without actually offering to help. When another staff member eventually came over to assist me, the two other members of staff made a rude comment in Japanese, saying that I seemed aggressive. Unfortunately for them, we understood what they were saying, despite being European guests. I found this behaviour particularly disappointing and unprofessional. I would have expected a much higher level of courtesy and customer service from a four-star hotel.
