    Hot water not working

    Nice quiet location and Tesco is about a 15 minute walk. Good for parking. The host Nicky was responsive.

    The hot water didn't work properly during the five nights we stayed. It often took several minutes to get hot water through the shower and taps and when it did come through, it would only last for a few minutes before the water ran cold. Nicky sent a plumber round the day after I reported it. I explained the problem would happen after 4-7 minutes, and though the plumber was a nice enough guy, he wouldn't leave the shower on for long enough, so he didn't see the issue for himself and it wasn't fixed. On our penultimate night and the fourth night of unreliable hot water, Nicky offered for us to move to another property but we were preoccupied visiting my dad in intensive care, so by that point it felt like too little too late. The issue with the hot water made some smaller gripes more annoying, e.g., the crockery and cutlery had old food residue on them, the toilet bowl had been bleached but the rim had not been cleaned, and the closing mechanism on the bedroom drawers were faulty so the drawers would hang open or it took several attempts to try to close them. My mum and I agree we wouldn't return.

    It was just what we needed for two nights.

    WiFi down whole of first day. Fine after that. Stairs have no banisters and are steep - not ideal for older visitors. No grab rails in shower, so again, not ideal for older visitors. Having said that, the owner was extremely helpful and available to try and sort out the WiFi, and says she has plans to improve the stairs.

    This place is really nice and clean and the host was very cooperative. We had a memorable time here!
