  A 5 Star Home Away from Home

  Everything about time our holiday time in Harlech and at the house far exceeded our expevtations. The home itself was beautifully decorated and outfitted with all of the comforts of home and we did indeed feel like we were "coming home" whenever we passed through the welcoming blue front door. Our hostess Meg was delightful and she was readily avaiable to answer any small queries we had. And enough can't be said about the home's location which offered amazing views of the castle, the sea and the streets befow where we found everything for our shopping needs during our time there. The friendly grocers, restaurant staff and townspeople went out of their way to be kind and helpful throughout our stay. My husband and I would definitely return to 1 Porkington Terrace.

  Super stay in amazing surroundings

  Self catering property. We enjoyed getting fresh croissants for breakfast from the deli at the bottom of the hill. We also bought other food from here for evening meals. Amazing location for castle. Quite a few options for eating lunch out. It was half an hour walk to the beach, the roads are very steep. Only 5 minute walk if you drive to the carpark. It was half an hour to drive to the Watkin Snowdon path where you can see lovely waterfalls and swim in the pools if you're brave enough! Llanfair slate caverns only 10 minutes drive so well worth a visit. For the more adventurous there is zip world (half an hour by car) underground zip lines and climbing, my daughter and husband did this and though expensive really enjoyed the challenge and experience. Indian take away was good but not open on a day we expected it to be. Pizzas were great from the take away (you can also eat in) - this gets very busy though. We had burgers at the bar on the corner Y Copa which was nice and there is also a Chinese, which we didn't get round to trying.

  You have to be happy to walk up steep hills, this wasn't a problem for us but would be for some. Four options that you can walk to for an evening meal. These can then be busy and take aways not always open so best to plan meals if you don't want to drive somewhere.

  The house is lovely inside with 4 great size bedrooms and a lovely comfortable lounge. The view of the castle from the front is incredible.

  Great quirky cottage, bursting with character and priceless views

  Lovely quirky old house with bags of character and so much space packed into a tiny property. Everything is put together with love. it was very clean, had everything you needed and the views over the castle to the coast were premium. Very close to town centre.

  Although it was close to town centre, the road up to it was steep which meant you had to think carefully with elderly parents. Just one parking space and roadside parking only sometimes possible so you may have to park other cars further away. However, minor points as we spent the whole time at the cottage enjoying it!
