Romantic, secluded but walkable to everything
We loved our three night stay here. It’s tucked away in a quieter area of Matera and we enjoyed that sense of seclusion. The bed is really comfortable. It was the perfect base for relaxing in between exploring Matera.
That sense of seclusion does mean a walk up and over the highest point of Matera. You do get a workout each day but that’s part of the Matera sassi experience! We are traveling for three months so had medium size suitcases and it was a bit of a schlepp to carry them up and down the stairs. It was worth it for us but something to be aware of. Google is sometimes unreliable in Matera so make sure the directions take you to Recinto Santa Maria and not to Recinto II San Giacomo which is the back of the apartment and has no access.

A superb and tranquil location on the edge of a magical city with spectacular views of the gorge.
This is the perfect place to stay for exploring Matera and the archeological park. The location is superb and the space is beautifully designed and very comfortable. The communication with the host was excellent and it was easy to navigate the arrival and departure. There were wonderful suggestions for what to do and where to eat and a spectacular welcoming tea on arrival. We had a marvellous stay!
Nothing was amiss, the place is perfect!

Great accommodation, great views. Highly recommend
Great location, comfortable, modern amenities, surrounded by beauty, easy communication with the hosts. We were lucky with the weather, so the numerous stairs up and down to get there were not an issue, but we were wondering how slippery it would be if it rained. That would apply to any accommodation in the sassi.

This stylish apartment is in a superb location, with a beautiful view and the host is warm and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.
