  This was the single worst experience I have had on any vacation in 20+ years of international travel

  UPDATE – 14 August: Approximately 12 hours after we posted our original review, the host reported to Booking.com that we had not stayed at the property. Our review was subsequently removed. This was incorrect: we checked into and stayed at the property on 3 August and left the following morning after the host terminated our booking. After we contacted Booking.com Customer Service and explained the situation, Booking.com sent us a new invitation to submit this review, and we've included this update for two purposes: 1) If the review moderation team receives another complaint about this review, we request that they check the electronic records in their system associated with this stay before removing this review, and 2) To alert prospective guests to the host's conduct in response to a negative review.

  BEWARE OF THIS HOST — OUR EXPERIENCE We booked this six-bedroom house for six nights for our family of four. Booking.com listed a maximum capacity of 15 adults. On our first evening, nine locally resident family members joined us for a takeaway dinner. Only the four booked guests stayed overnight. The published rules prohibited “parties/events” and established quiet hours, but we could find no rule prohibiting visitors or limiting the number of people who could be present to four. The dinner involved conversation and children playing—no amplified music, dancing or alcohol. Late that night (approx 1145pm), the host terminated our reservation and required us to leave by 10 a.m. the next morning, claiming the property was certified/insured for only four occupants and that our family dinner constituted a prohibited event. He also offered the alternative of letting us stay, but insisted that we pay an additional fee for each of our additional nine family members even though they all had other local accommodations or domiciles. We complied and left after approximately 18 hours of our planned six-night stay. We also observed multiple exterior camera devices, including around the private rear garden and fenced pathway, together with “CCTV in operation” signage. We could find no CCTV or camera disclosure in the Booking.com Safety & Security information. The host later stated that the devices were old and non-operational. We were not able to determine the operational status of the cameras. After departure, the host repeatedly asked to delete our photographs and checkout video, claiming the house rules prohibited photography. We retained the house rules displayed during our stay and cannot find any such prohibition. Had we known that having local family members visit for dinner could result in termination of our entire stay, we would never have booked this property.

  Clean, fresh, spacious, private, well-located, excellent communication, straightforward and simple.

  Only problem was WiFi wasn't really working and key for front door very hard to turn in lock
