    We stayed at this apartment twice this winter — six weeks the first time and seven weeks the second — and overall we did enjoy both stays. The apartment is located inside a hotel in an excellent spot, very close to the seafront, bars and restaurants, and only about five minutes from the train station, so it’s ideal for getting around. It also has a lovely view over the port, and even when the weather was bad the apartment stayed nice and warm. At weekends it can be a little noisy because of the clubs below, but with the windows closed it was barely noticeable. However, the apartment itself does feel quite tired and in need of some care and attention. The walls near the entrance are marked and could do with repainting, and unfortunately the shower tray was extremely dirty when we arrived — so much so that we had to buy bleach and clean it ourselves. The shower cubicle also leaks badly, with water running all over the bathroom floor every time it’s used, so we had to keep a mop and bucket in there permanently. The kitchen bin lid also looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped, although we did find half of a broken plate in the cupboard that was still there on both of our stays, and there wasn’t even a teaspoon. As we were staying for several weeks, the lack of spare bedding and towels was also an issue. There is a washing machine, but having no spare sets means you have nothing to use while items are drying. We did request extra towels and sheets a few times, but it took over a week before we finally received them. Storage space is another problem. There is only a small wooden rail with a few hangers and no drawers at all, despite there being enough room where a wardrobe could easily be added. An ironing board is provided, but it’s only a small tabletop one and the nearest plug socket is nowhere near the table.
