Absolutely brilliant place to stay!
We stayed at Sweetwaters Serena as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenage boys) as part of an amazing 10 day Safari trip. Sweetwaters was the 3rd stop of our trip and unfortunately we were only there for 1 night, but would highly recommend!! The main draw, that you notice as soon as you arrive, is of course the waterhole. It’s literally right there, with the majority of tents facing it (worth requesting or paying more for this) so you have jaw dropping views of elephants etc as you sit on your deck or eat your lunch in the restaurant. Just brilliant. The tents themselves are top notch and not at all like you’d imagine tents to be. Proper beds, lovely bedding, luxurious bathrooms with big hot showers. Not as big as some we stayed in but beautiful all the same, and you really felt spoilt and right at the heart of the nature around you. Very special. The food was some of the best we had on our entire trip. A magnificent buffet with something for everyone and chefs cooking fresh food in front of you. Lovely puddings too! Big shout out to Benson in the restaurant - a lovely man who took very good care of us. Facilities were great here too for our teenage sons. Clean spacious outdoor pool and also a games room with pool table, table tennis, table football. Ideal for them to unwind. And all with views of the waterhole too. This was also one of the best camps for places to sit and enjoy a drink outside. So if you are considering staying here then go for it! ( And don’t miss out on visiting the Chimp and Rhino sanctuarys - a must!) It is a very memorable and special place.

Kinda disappointing despite good location
Situated right on the lake so easy access to check out the local wildlife. Spotted lots of giraffes, a hippo, and variety of birds. The rooms were a bit small and tired looking and a bunch of the property was closed for renovations so it felt busy with nowhere to sit and chill pre/post dinner. The buffet food was excellent though, for both dinner and breakfast.

Tent in name only.
We had a wonderful stay for a couple days at Sweetwater. It was the second stop on our safari. Our tent was very comfortable. This area was much cooler than our first stop and cooler than Nairobi. As a welcome surprise, when our attendants turned down our beds, they added two hot-water bottles to pre-warm the bed. The first night they were much appreciated but the next two nights were not as cold. The beds were very comfortable and the full bathrooms with hot showers were greatly appreciated. Meals were very good. The bar was amply supplied. Everyone was so nice and very helpful. Kudos to the staff. Well done.
