    Extremely Disappointing

    Location

    We have just returned from Terazza delle Giarre and had a truly terrible experience. The property suffers greatly from damp and has an unpleasant odour. The main bathroom had crumbling damp walls and mould. The main bedroom also had major evidence of damp. The terrace is very badly stained with rust and the seating area, pots and tables are totally covered in bird excrement. Soft furnishings at the property are inadequate with stained rugs, stained outdoor cushions, flat lumpy pillows, holes in bedding and towels. The kitchen plates are chipped. We asked for the terrace to be cleaned as soon as we arrived in the afternoon as it was unusable. The cleaners arrived the next morning and stayed for nine minutes. The terrace remained in a very poor state. On our fourth day at the property we noticed an extremely bad smell. The odour was coming from a dead rotting pigeon that was trapped behind the kitchen window. The smell grew and grew and became totally invasive. We were unable to use the kitchen or terrace due to the putrid smell. We contacted the owner immediately who said she would try to find someone to help. But she never did. Overall the stay was well below par and we are seeking a partial refund. Please think very, very carefully about booking or staying at this property - the photos speak for themselves.
