Loved the location. Such a sweet property which was cosy and welcoming. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. My son especially loved his own private hut !!!

    The concept of the property

The listing didn't make it clear that one bedroom was in a separate shed. This bedroom's door could only be closed by locking the door - not the safest option. It was a heatwave when we visited and the property is like a furnace, with so many windows. When we arrived, the fridge was open...producing extreme heat from the appliance and making it unusable for a full 24 hours as it tried to cool itself. No smoke alarms in the property at all - and this overheating fridge could easily have caught fire. The only fire extinguisher was outside, by the shed bedroom and the main cabin door was very hard to open (the UPVC handle was clearly struggling in the extreme heat) so you couldn't get to an extinguisher in a hurry. There are multiple rugs on the floor but none are affixed so we had to pack them up to avoid slips and falls. The twin beds were extremely uncomfortable, with no support from the bedframe. It's clear from the photos that this property used to be impressive but it seems to have been forgotten since then. It was overgrown outside, without the full array of outdoor seating shown in the pictures and covered in cobwebs inside. The outside bench had a missing slat, covered by a cushion, causing a sudden fall to the ground when one of our party went to sit on it. Whilst we appreciate the heatwave affected our trip, with extreme heat throughout the property, it was a shame to see a sadder version of the property than we expected.

    A dream stay

Hannah was a wonderful hostess and we loved our time at the Deckhouse. The house itself is 5/5 - ample parking, beautiful and well loved decking and garden where we spent every evening soaking up the sun. The house is gorgeous, stylish and so comfortable and warm. Spacious bathroom with a deep bath and lots of hot water, and Hannah dropped off some emergency toilet paper for us as well. There are plenty of walks nearby and we never had to drive more than half an hour to get to the rolling hills, streams, woods and walks. There are horses and dogs in the property as well as sheep and cows nearby and birds nesting all over. Hay on Wye is so close as well if you want to go bookshopping or a cute lunch. The deckhouse is a dream and we dont hesitate to recommend to anyone who wants a real getaway in the middle of the Welsh countryside.

Theres not a huge amount of storage for food but we were only here for three days so we didn't mind too much.
