There will not be a next stay.

The hotel itself is OK. Booked a table for dinner in the hotel's restaurant, to meeting some friends. The food was excellent and the prices reasonable.

The breakfast was awful. There was one waiter to serve many hotel guests and diners from outside. I chose the vegetarian breakfast with an overcooked fried egg and a COLD fresh tomato. After 45 minutes of waiting, the plate arrived with a soft fried egg. I asked the have the egg done properly as I asked for, the plate was taken back for 10 minutes, egg done...and the tomato was cooked. Told the waiter that I won't eat it like this, and he agreed to ask for another plate to be prepared. Another 25 minutes went by, and a new plate arrived, this time with a breakfast so small to match a 3 year old kid. Upon checking out, I asked if I can speak with someone in charge, and the shift manager in charge happened to be the waiter. He didn't say a word to defending my complaint.

Comfy overnight but didnt enjoy the restaurant.

I had a big long room with a comfy bed. There was a real bath and a good work desk. The window was over the pub entrance. It was too dark and badly lit which I explain in the next section.

The room was very poorly lit. Even with the main light on it was dark. Only one bedside light in a double room and that was not very bright either. The TV by the window was very small. Far too small for the room and should surely be on a wall and positional. I had dinner in a very well furnished restaurant downstairs where plates were designed for the it and there clearly had been a lot of money spent by the M and B brewery. It's called Pesto and is very Italian. I wanted a tasty and fulfilling meal after a hard day's drive. There are lots of small dishes and i found it confusing and the staff werent helpful when i asked what would go with what. So I had three small dishes from the highest priced set menu list and a potato one was excessive in garlic and I couldnt eat much of it. The restaurant was not busy and I told the staff that I couldnt eat the one dish. Alas no offer of another dish, a refund or a free ice cream resulted. The beer selection was unimaginative so I had Guinness at £6.50 a pint which is expensive. So I had a good night's sleep but not a good food experience. So I wouldnt go there again.
