    It was ok.

Breakfast was very nice and to order. Nice wine and cheese hour in the evening. We enjoyed the garden and fire pits. The amenities are very nice.

Our room was a bit shabby and dated. Worn out saggy chairs and a big chip in the glass table top. My husband tripped over a lamp cord that was draped across the floor.

A breath of fulfillment and total enjoyment

The Genivieve hotel way exceeded our expectations, and left us with a refreshed sense of how something in the service industry should be done. From the moment we visually saw the property, we were impressed by the architecture. When we pulled into the driveway, after a wonderfully relaxing drive up from Santa Barbara, we felt pleased with our decision to book there. My wife checked in, and Cody from the front desk, immediately brought a rolling rack and helped us load our luggage, and deliver it to the room. She also graciously answered a million questions. The room itself was magical, we widened our smile as we settled in. The wine reception was very subdued, because it was out-of-season for our visit, but still very nice. We had 3 mornings of complimentary breakfast, and with items made to order, with obvious quality ingredients .... it was an elevated experience beyond any included breakfast stay we've ever had. Throw in the winery passport they provide for discounts and offers at several very nice tasting rooms and wineries, the value of our stay rose significantly. Lastly, the manager Richard, and dining server Dante, brought a renewed faith in how people should be treated in a service industry operation. We will stay there again, and we can't recommend it enough to someone visiting the Santa Ynez/Solvang/Los Olivos area. The location is perfect to walk to nice restaurants, enjoy a serene environment, have beautiful agricultural and wilderness scenery nearby, and feel like you got your value, and then some, for the get-away you hoped for.

    Tasting Passport usage disappointing

Overall a wonderful event weekend location. Excellent accomodations, although quite expensive so not a good value for many travelers. Hence, many attending our event chose to stay elsewhere. The catered meal was enjoyed by all. FYI, The Genevieve Exclusinve Wine Tasting Passport for complimentary tastings at local wineries was not honored for groups, only for couples. It was disappointing to learn this when visiting the wineries as this is not written on the passport. This item is included in the Guest Amenity Fee, but not useable if you are doing wine tastings with a group. Per the website: Guest Amenity Fee A daily fee of $42 + tax includes Tasting Passport with tasting offers at over 10 local wineries, wine & dessert hour, gourmet breakfast, parking, Wi-Fi, and access to our in-house spa.
