    The Haven, Thornthwaite

Fantastic location, high quality fixtures, super clean, good heating system, great water pressure in shower, comfortable beds, thoughtful extras such as walking and hill guides and maps. Very close to Keswick, Whinlatter pass and the main trunk road. Views to the rear superb.

    非常适合自驾游的游客,虽然不在KESWICK小镇,但距离小镇以及周边景点不远,自驾方便。并且房屋周边环境优美、安静,适合短暂居住。

    基本没有。

Beautiful holiday home - stunning views, recommend.

The Haven was easy to find, beautiful views, incredibly clean, everything you need. The beds were the best beds I have ever slept in away from home. We had a great stay, and would come back in a heart beat. The kitchen has everything you need, and more. Even things like tin foil/baking paper to make it easy to cook - a fresh sponge for washing up, and some biscuits upon arrival. The living room has everything you need, and more. We set up Monopoly Lakes Edition and played it in the evenings across the week. It was such a great touch. There are lots of books to read about the area, and we got good info on climbing Latrigg and Catbells. The beds were honestly soft yet firm, the bedding so clean and comfortable. I take my own pillow everywhere I travel, but I honestly think I would have been fine without it! The views from all angles of the house are spectacular - views of Skiddaw, Bassenthwaite Lake, Whinlatter Forest, green green and green. A real feast for the eyes - different every day. Just outside of Keswick that you are away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough that you have everything you need at your fingertips. You can walk out the door and a short distance away is Bassenthwaite Lake - the hosts give you directions, which were really helpful. This is not to be missed. Also, cross the road and you have Whinlatter Forest right there to explore.

It feels churlish to say anything negative about The Haven, because we had such a great time, and we think it is brilliant. But, the driveway is a bit of a pain. I read the reviews and thought people were being dramatic, but having parked my 7 seater on the driveway a few times, and it struggling to reverse up, I realise that they were being honest. The thing is, there is ample space at the top for a VW Sharan, so most people are covered parking at the top of the drive in front of the gate, and the road is so quiet that your car is safe. The only other minor niggle is the chairs in the kitchen - again, reading the reviews, I assumed people were just being picky, but the chairs are too big for the space and it makes basic tasks - getting meals on the table, making a cup of tea, moving about while people are seated, not impossible, but tedious. This is a really simple fix, swap the chairs - job done!
