    A pleasant 3 night stay

Torch to walk from restaurant to room at night. Mostly excellent staff. Generally a comfortable and clean en-suite bedroom and restaurant. Tables and chairs cleaned well between guests. A welcoming beautiful rose on each breakfast/dining table. Quality ingredients for meals used, lovely de-caffeinated coffee in the restaurant. Good fine dining meals but we would prefer more vegetables than fine dining commonly offers. Good adaptation of meals to accommodate food intolerances. Externally it is a beautiful grade II listed building. Breakfast felt relaxing; a good start to each day. Lovely alternative ketchups. Location at a road junction in the countryside but with easy access to surrounding area. History of the building seen in photographs; female staff member kindly took time to explain the photographs. Our stay improved and ended on a much better note.

Not a great start: I'm allergic to feathers and wool and despite notifying The Swan, these materials were on the bed when we arrived. At dinner, I asked for a glass of wine, it was forgotten. I asked for non-runny yolks for breakfast, they were both runny. The same eggs were further cooked and returned to the table. I would not have expected these things to have occurred. Walking from cottage bedroom to restaurant on the road, as there is no path. It would be helpful to have hooks to hang bath towels and a heated towel rail. Room and food was expensive but probably consistent with the area. After a long drive/day, my husband and I just needed a hearty bowl of soup and roll but only fine dining is offered.

Generally very good with excellent food and service. Recommended

Food and staff interactions were very good. The room was adequate a bit sparse considering description. Location good despite immediate isolated spot had easy car access to the general area and amenities.

The shower was less than clean with mold evident at tile joints and around shower base. Internet and phone reception was none existent for whole stay. Told staff a few times the wi fi was rubbish and was met with surprise even though other guests were having same issues. Offers to look into it failed to make a difference.
