Very disappointing versus the advert photos - not maintained to an acceptable quality and not worth the booking rate. Lu
We didn’t get to see what we might have liked because we left immediately
The property was in a very poor condition with regard to cleanliness, age and condition of furniture and soft finishes. The interior did not look anything like the advertising photos on Booking website. The property had not been cleaned from previous guests due to a mistake by the managing agent but the bedding was yellow and stained with sweat, the bed base was covered in black marks, the living room seating was tired, old, soiled and ripped on dining seats.

The location is lovely and allowed for easy access for early morning walks along the lake. The entertainment area outside is great: the braai area was great and the kids enjoyed the pool. Marleen was responsive when I contacted her to sort out any issues and was helpful and polite at all times. The linen was clean and towels were sufficient - there are even bed warmers in the cupboard for the colder months. There were sufficient cleaning supplies available, which was awesome.
The kitchen left much to be desired, unfortunately: some of the cutlery, pans, kettle and the oven baking tray were rusted. We had to scrub and boil the kettle several times, with vinegar (which was gratefully available in the cupboards), before we were able to use it. The tea sieve was also rusted and could not be used - I had go out and purchase one. The bag for the laundry pegs was filthy and filled with dirt on the inside - my mother was shocked when we turned it over whilst hanging the laundry. The braai grills weren't cleaned when we arrived, which meant we had to clean them ourselves before use. The added benefit of a cleaning service twice a week was a nice bonus which we really were appreciative of; however, I think cleaning needs to go beneath the surface and beyond what's just visible, especially before guests check-inl. In addition, one of the beds seemed overused, mainly the one in the second bedroom facing the lake, as the springs would creak and it was very soft in the middle. I point out all of these observations, as I think they are easy and inexpensive changes that can be made to modernize this accommodation, especially the kitchen, and really make it good value for money, as it is in a wonderful location and a beautiful home.

Tranquil, calm and relaxing
Got more than we expected. So calm and quiet, we really enjoyed our stay.
We did have a small incident, as my son cut his foot on some broken glass, that was left from previous renters but it was sorted very quickly.
