Not recommended if you have dust allergies or care about cleanliness
What I loved most about the hotel was the beautiful manor house itself and the interior decoration. Every detail had been carefully considered, and staying there really felt like being in a traditional English country home — with an extreme cottagecore charm, in the best possible way. The location was also excellent. Moreton-in-Marsh is a lovely village and a very convenient base for exploring the Cotswolds. The surroundings are beautiful, and the town has very good train connections to both London and Oxford, which makes it especially practical if you want to explore the area without relying entirely on a car.
The main issue for us was the cleanliness, which unfortunately was very poor. Cleanliness is something I really value in a hotel, and while I completely understand that this is an old property with a lot of character, that should not mean that dust and dirt are allowed to build up. On our first night, we had to ask to change rooms because the headboard had a significant accumulation of dust, and there was dust in several areas of the room. We were then moved again, and even in the third room the fabric-covered headboard still had quite a lot of dust on it, although less than in the first room. Throughout the hotel, many of the lamps have fabric shades, and these also seemed to need much more thorough cleaning. In a historic hotel with lots of fabrics, carpets and traditional furnishings, regular deep cleaning is especially important; otherwise the charm can quickly start to feel neglected rather than cosy. The breakfast tables were also very sticky every morning, which was unpleasant. We also found the carpet in our room quite dirty. I understand that carpeting is very common in traditional British hotels, but in this case it did not feel well maintained or clean. We also found the breakfast buffet quite limited. The cooked dishes that can be ordered from the menu are a nice option, but the continental buffet itself is very small, with only a little yoghurt and cereal, some fruit, croissants and not much else. It would definitely benefit from having a wider selection. Overall, the lack of cleanliness really affected how comfortable we felt in the room, and unfortunately made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the stay.

very comfortable hotel, expensive but value for money.
Suite, very comfortable, bathroom excellent as was other rooms. Breakfast excellent, dinner expensive and not a lot of choice, eat here once there was a wedding to be held on the Saturday and was notified by e mail that our room was above the function room and we would be able to hear it, would we still be happy in taking the room. Of course we said yes and there was no problem.
would have liked to have been informed at check in that there is no milk in the room unless you asked for it.
