Lovely host but cottage could do with some TLC

    The host and the location

The cottage whilst very cute and spacious was rather negeleted. The host was truely lovely so sad to say. Cleaning was lacking, beds smelt musty though clean, kitchen items need upgrading and abit more, maintance was very poor and the stairs rather unsafe. With abit of investment this could be a lovely place to be. I hope the host does not feel offended but for the 1st time I felt some constructive feed back maybe helpful. None of this detracted from a lovely stay though

    Kuvane sarme

Sve je bilo super, veliki plus za vlasnicu sto nam je izasla u susret i dala veliku šerpu da možemo da kuvamo sarmu,I onda nam je ostalo fila i mi smo jos pored toga napravili punjene paprike i sve je bilo top

A very cute and cosy cottage in a wonderfully quiet spot

Very comfortable house for up to 6 people, the beds are excellent, bathrooms also. Starwberry picking at the end of the village was a real highlight of our stay

    Very little

We enjoyed the quirky period nature of the property including the natural beams, uneven bowing walls and a cosy snug lounge. The property was a good size to accommodate and service 5 adults and 1 child with 1 full bathroom, 1 ensuite and a downstairs loo as well. Location was really good, more or less equidistant from Cheddar and Wells, so a good location for visiting those locations as well as fairly near to places like Bath and Longleat. The kitchen was modern and well equipped with a decent fridge freezer, oven, hob, kettle and toaster etc. No microwave but that wasn't a problem for us. Host was helpful and checked in with us as soon as we arrived, sorting a couple of minor issues immediately. Outside space including the dining table and chairs was well utilised and much appreciated. Bedrooms and beds generally well furnished and comfortable with lots of fans provided, essential in the current heatwave.

Undertandably with a period property you get quirky issues with levels, unevenness underfoot etc. There were two points where taller people would need to duck down, firstly the front door and secondly near the base of the stairs where it was under 6ft. The stairs in particular were also a little awkward for my 70+ year old parents who felt that a grab rail at the top would be useful to help them on the top deep step, and in general the stairs all slanted in different ways at different points and were slightly unpredictable to climb and descend for all of us. Downstairs there was a bit of a faint smell of dog lingering around the area of the lounge, so perhaps a good clean and maybe some air fresheners would be good here. The small circular table in the kitchen was quite unstable and may need a bit of work to firm up the wobble. We noted that the back door handle was starting to become loose during out stay and was moving quite a lot when we checked out so that might need a bit of maintenance. Other small bits of damage, cracked paintwork etc. around the property in general, but that's all part of the charm of a lot of older properties. Upstairs mostly all OK, but lots of flaky paint on ceilings, few dark marks on the lino where you step out of the shower in the main bathroom and looked like some issues with the shower in the ensuite too. My dad reported it was very difficult to enter and exit the ensuite shower, and in main bathroom getting the shower head to go up and lock was a bit of a challenge. These are all very minor issues however, and we did have a lovely time at the Nook.
