    Near disaster spoils an already stressful trip

    I am not writing a review, just providing feedback of booking.com's performance: on Monday, the day our stay started, we had to drive from Hereford to Keighley (4 hours 30 minutes) to see my brother in hospital. We then drove to Ilkley (another 40 minutes) to see his wife before going to our apartment. So I checked my emails that morning, noting that nothing new had arrived by 8am when we started our journey. It's not until 5pm when we arrived outside the Queens Head that I realised that we had not received the code for the keys in the lock box. I am 79 and do not own a smart phone. Simon was not available because the pub is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! We had no way of getting to our apartment so were faced with finding somewhere else to stay. Happily my wife was able to phone a near neighbour in Hereford who was given the code for our key safe and entered our house, opened my computer, got the code for Apartment 1 and phoned it to us. It had arrived at 8.17 that morning when we were 10 miles into our journey north. If she had still been on holiday, we would have been completely stranded. There was no back up at all and the stress this caused ended in us only staying 2 nights even though we paid for 3. This needs to be sorted out for future visitors.

    Nice apartment in the village centre.

    In the centre of the village and easy walk to most places and not a bad walk to the railway station. The apparent has good facilities. The kitchen is built into a large cupboard in the main room. You cook basic things and warm through food. The pub downstairs does good food and the staff can help with questions about the apartment.

    Parking is on-street. It is free just outside the pub but that can fill up at busy times.
