A very nice peaceful, countryfied location
Our hosts were very nice, they didn't impose themselves on us at all. The property is in a very nice location with some really nice views over the river Esk valley and beyond. We were very happy with the amount of space we had, the lounge, kitchen, dining area was more than enough and pretty well equipped, the bedroom again was nice and big as well and the bathroom offered a bath with an overhead shower. We were nice and warm during our stay with a simple heating control. It was quiet and away from the main road. We encountered a pair of Deer when approaching the cottage in the evenings.
The drive down to the property and back up to the main road could be off putting to some more nervous drivers. We asked our hosts for the walk route to the local pub, the details we were given were nice and accurate, so off we went to enjoy a pint and a meal,, only to find that the pub is closed and was closed throughout our stay, if this is a seasonal pub then that information should be made known to guests. The only other thing was the TV, we could have enjoyed a lovely 42" screen but we could not get any terrestrial channels at all, possibly because of the sky box, we could and should have asked our hosts, as they would have offered to help, but we didn't want to bother them again so we used our lap top instead. Simple instructions would have been appreciated.

Ideal for a relaxed and comfortable stay close Whitby but quiet with great scenery and hosts
The cottage had of character and is in a very scenic location.
A better sign for the property when first arriving would help in locating it.
