Speculative practices by BASELLODGING TEAM and extreme downgrade (over 1090 CHF)

The only positive aspect was the location, which we had to fight for.

A highly unprofessional experience with BASELLODGING TEAM. We originally booked a premium 141 sqm apartment with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and private parking, specifically chosen for its proximity to our event. One week before, they claimed a "water damage" emergency—a classic speculative tactic to cancel lower rates and re-rent at higher prices during major events.First, BASELLODGING TEAM tried to relocate us far away. When we refused, they offered a second alternative near our event, but it was an extreme downgrade: an apartment of only 50 sqm (instead of the 141 sqm booked) with only 1 bedroom instead of 3, no private parking, and riddled with major issues. We arrived on a Sunday, when all shops in Switzerland are closed, and the host refused to provide even a basic bottle of water or coffee capsules for their specific machine, telling us to "buy them nearby." The bathroom fan was completely broken for all 4 nights (causing massive condensation and foul odors), and they ignored it despite being notified on day one. The hairdryer was missing on the first day, and the one provided later had attachments from a different model, making it useless (forcing us to buy a new one).Furthermore, they agreed in writing on email to a 100.88 CHF refund for this severe downgrade, but later illegally withheld the funds under the pretext of a city tax, clearly as retaliation for reporting the defects. The case is now under formal investigation by Booking.com Customer Service with all chat, email, and bank screenshots submitted as evidence. Avoid BASELLODGING TEAM at all costs!

Nice flat, but broken heating in the bedrooms was a problem.

The apartment is large and airy and well appointed. The property was clean and the check-in/out process was easy.

The heating in two of the three bedrooms did not work on the first night, despite outside temperatures of minus 4 degrees. After office hours, we could only contact the host via Booking.com Customer Services, as the emergency contact option did not function. The host tried to resolve the issue that night, but this did not happen. One bedroom was fixed the following morning, and only after further contact was a small portable heater provided for the main bedroom. As a result, one of our group caught a cold. This had a negative impact on our stay. Adequate heating in winter is essential.
