    Serious problems with the host and the apartment

    Location of the apartment is truly great - just by the sea.

    Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing, mainly because of the host’s behavior. The apartment uses an electricity activation card (see attached photograph). Without the card, the electricity, including the air conditioning, does not work. We left the card inside the apartment when we went to the beach and left the AC running at 26°C. While we were away, the host entered the apartment and removed the card. He then reported us to Booking.com, claiming that we had violated the house rules by leaving the card inside. However, nowhere in the house rules provided to us was there any instruction that the card could not be left inside. The host then refused to return the card, leaving us without electricity and air conditioning. We were travelling with two children during the Greek summer. He returned the card only after I contacted Booking.com User Support and asked them to intervene. During this dispute, the host also told us that he would have us removed from the apartment and would call the police and take legal action. The host later claimed that the card was connected to the apartment alarm system and that removing it would activate the alarm. We subsequently tested this by removing the card, and the alarm remained in the “disarmed” status. There is also a security camera covering the entire front porch, including the area where guests can sit and sunbathe, rather than only the entrance/exit. We noticed that the camera is not visible in the photographs shown in the Booking.com listing (see attached photograph – right edge of the roof). Overall, we found the host’s handling of this matter completely unacceptable. We would not stay at this property again and cannot recommend it.
