    The location of Villa Akaroa was great, and we loved that it was pet-friendly.

    Unfortunately, the condition of the house didn’t meet our expectations, especially considering we paid lots of money for two nights. The property felt quite worn down, and the garden could have done with some attention. The house also needed a good clean, as there were crumbs on the floor when we arrived. There were hundreds of ants in the pantry during our stay, which got into some of our shopping bags. There was also a bag of ash from the fireplace left outside by the door, which wasn’t particularly welcoming.

    Beautiful spot so close to town. We loved the history of the place which was provided.

    There wasn’t any breakfast provisions. The house was warm and light and the beds were exceptionally comfortable.

    It’s always nice when you arrive late to find some milk and bread. The fridge was empty. The WiFi password was difficult to find and the milk frother didn’t work.

    We like the fact that we can take our dog.

    Just an observation, the outside garden area is being overrun with the convolvulus weed, which if not sorted will strangle all the other plants/bushes and trees, and can even get into the house.
