  The house is spacious, beautiful, and has an interesting history. Its location is excellent, right in the heart of Funchal.

  Unfortunately, our stay was also affected by several significant inconveniences. The air conditioning unit in one of the bedrooms made very strange and loud noises that seriously disturbed our sleep. Opening the windows was not a realistic alternative due to the considerable noise outside. Furthermore, there were no mosquito screens and it is difficult to ventilate the rooms. We also found dirty bed sheets in one of the bedrooms. Fortunately, the issue was handled promptly, and the sheets were replaced by the evening. The most unpleasant aspect was the communication with the managing company. In addition to the extensive preliminary check-in, we were also asked to sign an agreement which, to our surprise, contained a number of absurd and unreasonable terms. For example, it stipulated a penalty if we failed to arrive at the exact time agreed upon and specified in advance. Overall, the entire process felt unnecessarily complicated and inflexible.

  Une villa exceptionnelle que nous recommandons les yeux fermés !

  Nous avons passé un séjour exceptionnel à la Villa Diniz. Dès notre arrivée, l'accueil a été parfait : notre hôte nous a accueillis physiquement et nous a grandement aidés à garer notre voiture (ce qui est une véritable épreuve à Funchal !). Il a ensuite pris le temps de nous faire visiter cette maison incroyable. Les volumes sont superbes et la décoration authentique rappelle l'histoire des lieux. Le vrai coup de cœur reste le jardin exotique dans l'arrière-cour : dépaysement total garanti ! Côté confort, c’est le luxe absolu. Nous ne manquions de rien : les équipements sont complets (lave-vaisselle, lave-linge...), et la configuration avec 3 chambres et 3 salles de bain est extrêmement appréciable. Mention spéciale pour les lits, qui sont incroyablement spacieux dans les deux grandes chambres. L'emplacement est idéal. En plein centre de Funchal, tout se fait à pied : les nombreux restaurants, le marché, les téléphériques, etc. C'est un quartier animé la journée (avec un supermarché très pratique à proximité) mais qui redevient rapidement calme le soir. C’est aussi un excellent point de départ pour partir en excursion à travers l'île. Un conseil crucial pour les futurs voyageurs : pensez absolument à demander à l'hôte de vous réserver la place de parking privé, car se garer dans le quartier relève de l'impossible. Par ailleurs, évitez de louer une trop grosse voiture, vous aurez du mal à vous faufiler dans les petites ruelles de la ville.

  Avoir dû rendre les clés et quitter cette magnifique villa. Nous serions bien restés plus longtemps !

  A gorgeous hideaway in the heart of beautiful Funchal

  Beautiful beautiful historic property in the middle of the old town, well within reach of all parts of the city. There’s loads of space and a fabulous secret garden. It’s very special. We didn’t want to leave!

  One of the showers was broken and another had no hot water when we arrived, but management sorted within hours.
