A fantastic place for 8-10 people in great countryside with fantastic terrace and view
It's a really wonderful place for a very adequate price (about 1500 Euros for 9 days). And very friendly hosts. We were there with our extended family (5 adults, 1 teenager, 2 small children) for 9 days in early April. 4 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and a washing machine in one bathroom. A kitchen and a living room with everything you need. There was an oven, but central heating also worked very well when it did get a bit chilly during the nights. But the best - the terrace with a big dining table and a fantastic view in the garden with lemon trees and a BBQ. A great location for a rather quiet holiday - both for just being at "home" and reading or playing games, and for excursions in Southern Albania or along the coast. A few authentic cafés, restaurants and shops (catering more for locals than for international tourists) are in walking distance in the village or can be reached after a few minutes' driving. Very friendly people everywhere. Walking or hiking in beautiful countryside and on the hills / mountains for all ages and levels, e.g. to an old church. You do need a car, though (but traffic is not problematic).
Generally, everything was really great. What was a bit unexpected was only that we had to pay in cash (Euros or Lek). There a minibanks in Orikum and other places in driving distance, but anyway you wouldn't think that you have to care about it. Otherwise, if I want to pick a few things that could be improved, I could mention a strange smell in one of the bathrooms. A few things might need to be looked at (e.g. some of the power plugs). But nothing dramatic. So in total - really ok and nothing to complain about. :-) With regard to the location, you really do need a car. The coastline between Vlore and Orikum was not very beautiful: constructions sites everywhere, the beaches a bit dirty. Many restaurants were still closed. OK, this was April - maybe it changes during summer. But if swimming and nearby beaches are your main reason for travelling, you should probably go further South.
