  A really excellent stay.

  A really excellent stay. The apartment was clean and spacious, the room and bed very comfortable, and everything worked perfectly — hot water included, which matters in Nuwara Eliya. The highlight was Babu, the caretaker. He helped us with absolutely everything. When I mentioned I wanted to arrange a Horton Plains tour, he introduced us to a good driver and sorted it out. We struggled to wake up for the 4:30am start, and Babu was kind enough to call and get us moving — we'd have missed it otherwise. He also recommended good restaurants nearby and was reachable any time we needed something. Always smiling, always polite. The apartment alone would have been worth it, but Babu is what made the stay. Highly recommended.

  ⭐ 1-Star Review – Extremely Disappointing Booking Experience I booked a stay at Vista Apartment Marines Blue Hotel on 19 August, and my booking was confirmed. I made my plans based on that confirmed reservation and expected the hotel to honour the booking. However, this morning, on the day of my stay, I received a phone call informing me that my reservation was overbooked. I was told that it was a mistake made by the hotel staff. I honestly find this completely unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. If the hotel had an overbooking issue, why was I allowed to make the reservation on 19 August and why was it confirmed? The hotel had more than enough time to identify and resolve the issue before the day of arrival. Instead, I was informed at the very last minute, leaving me with unnecessary stress and inconvenience. A confirmed booking should mean something. Guests make travel plans, arrange transportation, and sometimes travel long distances based on their accommodation being secured. Simply saying “it was a staff mistake” does not solve the problem or compensate for the inconvenience caused to the guest. This is especially concerning for foreign travellers, who may be unfamiliar with the area and may have difficulty finding alternative accommodation at the last minute. My advice to anyone considering this property: think twice before making a reservation. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants a reliable and stress-free booking experience. I strongly believe that a hotel should take responsibility for its booking system and staff errors rather than passing the inconvenience on to the customer. Very disappointing experience. I would not book this property again, and I would not recommend it to other travellers, especially foreign guests.
