Excellent Value-for-Money in 5-Star Neighborhood
VOUK at Nusa Dua is affordable. This should be the biggest draw for choosing this hotel resort amongst the sea of luxurious properties it finds itself in. Rooms are spacious, amenities are complete and offerings are typical for a full fledged high-end hotel - gym, buffet breakfast (average), 3 dining areas, luxurious pool. If you have an event to attend in the Nusa Dua area, you won’t regret booking VOUK.
There isn’t much not to like. The only possible downside is for ultra discerning guests is you might question the 5-Star category (more of a 4-Star really, but higher than 3 for sure) and this is because it is in an area where there are neighboring properties that are mostly more high-end in terms of look and service. I doubt though that there is a property in the area that can beat VOUK in terms of value.

Bad
NOTHING!
We stayed at Vouk Hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali, expecting a relaxing family holiday. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we have ever had. First of all, the location is far from ideal. The hotel feels isolated, with very little to do nearby. Restaurants, shops and attractions are not within convenient walking distance, meaning you constantly depend on transportation. Even getting a Grab was not always straightforward. Also not Grabfood. The nearby beach was also disappointing, and the presence of stray dogs made us uncomfortable, especially while travelling with a young child. Another major issue was the food situation. As a Muslim family, having access to genuinely halal food is extremely important to us. There is a big difference between food simply being pork-free and meat actually being halal-certified. We did not feel sufficiently reassured about the halal options, which made eating at the hotel difficult for our family. Travellers with strict halal dietary requirements should be particularly careful. Even to the hotel promised halal food. The overall service and hospitality were equally disappointing. When guests are unhappy, especially families travelling with small children, you expect some understanding, flexibility and willingness to find a reasonable solution. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. We were so dissatisfied that we decided to leave the hotel earlier than planned, despite having already paid for our stay. We requested a refund for the unused nights, but the hotel refused. Instead of showing goodwill or making an effort to resolve the situation, they chose to keep the money. What makes this even more frustrating is that we travelled all the way to Bali for a special family holiday. You spend considerable money, time and effort planning a trip like this, only to end up leaving a hotel because the experience is so disappointing.
