Wonderful and relaxing.
A lovely village location in its own grounds with rabbits and peacocks. Greeted by name and shown the lovely property. Modern technology everywhere and put to good use. The hosts went to great lengths to make us feel part of their house. Breakfast and evening meal were superb served in the private restaurant.

An oasis of perfection in County Durham. Without hesitation, go there.
The most important thing which makes a person feel welcome is to be met by a warm handshake and,,,,not so often done… to be waived off by your hosts. This was the case during our overnight stop at Westgate Manor. It was a job to find dog free, quality accommodation in this rural area, but this jewel of a place came up trumps. After a longer than planned journey over the moors we arrived feeling tired. Our bedroom and bathroom boasted comfort everywhere and a deep bath with luxury bath salts soon melted my lassitude. Descending to eat our evening meal we realised that we could have spent days here, walking the fells, profiting from the comfortable lounges with well stocked books, or enjoying the attractive gardens. I think it is on a National cycle route. Our pre ordered meal was absolutely delicious, accompanied by a bottle of good wine. Breakfast too was excellent, served by attentive Stewart. Without hesitation…book here!
There was nothing not to like, but in the otherwise well equipped bathroom there was no shelf on which to place toiletries etc.
