Not the most beautiful resort, but the one I remember most
I think that's the fairest assessment. I've stayed at many resorts more luxurious than Whale Island. Bigger rooms, more beautiful pools, and more elaborate service. But very few places leave a feeling like this. Whale Island has a rare authenticity. They don't try to create a glamorous version of nature. Instead, they let nure speak for itself. One afternoon I kayaked along the coast. The water was so clear you could see the rocks and coral below. Then I went back to sit and have a beer in front of the restaurant and watch the sunset. It sounds very ordinary, but it was one of the most relaxing days I've had in years.

Waking up at 5 a.m. to hike up the mountain, and guess what I saw?
A staff member suggested we try hiking to the island's highest point early in the morning. We woke up at 5 a.m., grabbed a bottle of water, and followed the trail through the large rocks and trees on the island. About 30 minutes after reaching the summit, the entire Van Phong Bay unfolded before our eyes. The sun was rising in the distance, the water was almost perfectly still, and there was not a sound except for the wind. It was one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen in Vietnam.

This is the perfect place to read, unwind, and enjoy nature
Beautiful scenery, fresh air, enthusiastic staff, relaxing pool, and everything looks even better than in the photos. The road to get there is a bit far but it's totally worth.
