  Avoid - Lots of Stairs and Grubby Entrance

  Avoid this apartment if you: 1) Do not want to climb over six flights of stairs to reach the third floor, and then the fourth floor for the bedrooms! 2) Are medically unable to climb lots of stairs (44 steps to third and a further 11 to fourth) 3) Do not like being blamed for causing damage to a bed side unit, that you are totally innocent of! (Nikki did later accept that we did not cause any damage, where the cleaner failed to notice ‘the so called damage’ that was there before we arrived, however, she did later apologise) The Bookings.com description does not tell you that the apartment covers the third and fourth floors. What there is, is a link to the Glasswing Stays website, where you have to trawl through to where it mentions ’several flight’ of stairs. I believe this is deliberately misleading. First appearance at the communal entrance is extremely poor. After we worked out that the entrance was not No.3, as stated, but was in fact No.1, flat 3, you are met with a grubby exterior, with dirty glass windows and dirty abandoned pots out the front, with weeds in them. Our first instinct was that we had been ‘scammed’, but then we noticed the small Glasswing sign. The instructions for entering the flat were incorrect in places and contradictory, i.e. it says that there are different codes for the communal front door, then another code for the Flat 3 door, but it also says it’s the same code for both! After passing the front door, we were met with a grubby entrance that must not have been cleaned for years, including the stairs, carpet and bannisters. The apartment was okay, but it did have multiple gaps in the laminate flooring. The bathroom shower seals, especially at the bottom were dirty and in need of replacement. The wall had some damp damage where the paint was peeling off. The lounge area also had damp damage in a corner. Kitchen and bedrooms were fine.
