    the unit was clean and located in a beautiful setting, I would never rent from Howie again. His unwillingness to demons

    While the condo itself was well-maintained, clean, and situated in a desirable location at Jiminy Peak, my experience with the host, Howie, was marred by his refusal to exhibit even a minimal degree of empathy during an unforeseeable medical and military emergency.

    As an active-duty U.S. Army Soldier currently deployed in Eastern Europe, I had a very limited opportunity to reunite with my family in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. I reserved Howie’s condo for two weeks with the intention of staying there with my fiancée. However, just three days prior to our scheduled arrival, her physician advised against flying due to serious pregnancy-related health risks, including a high probability of miscarriage given her medical history. Upon receiving this devastating news, I immediately contacted Howie to cancel our reservation and request a refund of $1,362.40. I offered to provide both military orders and medical documentation to substantiate the emergency, but despite claiming he understood our situation, Howie declined to refund a single dollar. His response felt both dismissive and contradictory, particularly when—just minutes after denying the refund—he sent us automated check-in instructions, knowing full well we could not safely travel. For comparison, the airline promptly refunded our tickets after reviewing the documentation. Booking.com representatives also confirmed that the authority to refund was solely in the hands of the host. Yet, Howie remained inflexible. His inability to balance policy with basic human decency was especially disheartening given the circumstances and my military status. Though the unit was clean and located in a beautiful setting, I would never rent from Howie again. His unwillingness to demonstrate compassion, even in the face of a documented medical emergency and financial hardship, reveals a lack of business empathy and respect for those who serve. Military personnel and families seeking understanding and flexibility would be well-advised to book elsewhere.

    Wow! Indeed

    A very tastefully decorated ski side chalet with all the comforts of home. This roomy apartment has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The bed is firm, the linens are soft, and the bath towels are plump. You won't want to leave!

    The only down side is if you don't go during ski season, it's 15 - 20 minutes to town. But, when you get to these quaint New England towns, you'll be pleased.

    The staff and Christiansens was great.

    The condo was shabby. Door knobs loose. Bedding was old. Lamps not plugged in. Air conditioner really loud.
