Great location; the place works if no one sleeps in the living room
The best part about this place is the location - great neighbourhood, 30m walking distance from the Coliseum, with lots of options for public transport (bus, metro). Shops and restaurants all around, very safe and pleasant part of the city. The hosts sent us a link on a website called "Vikey" which at first seemed suspicious but turns out to be SAFE, so don't worry about it. You enter your details and in return you can open both the entrance to the building and the apartment doors with just a few clicks and no keys involved at all - very convenient. The apartment has a functional kitchen; no microwave though (we don't use one, so it didn't bother us).
1. Cleanliness - right away you can see that the apartment hadn't been cleaned carefully before we came. Very dusty, with food under the table and the bathrooms didn't seem to be cleaned on a regular basis. 2. Amenities - You get a few glasses, plates and cheap forks/spoons and that's it. It's not a show-stopper at all, but simple things you'd expect to have at an apartment weren't there. 3. Messages from the host - before arriving and afterwards, we received automated messages in Italian from the host on a regular basis. All of them seemed to have this imperative tone, e.g. something like "You can check-in ONLY AFTER 15:00; If you check-out after 10:30, YOU WILL BE CHARGED EUR 40 for late departure; Report any damages to the apartment now OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED; Let us know as soon as possible when you are arriving" etc. It's like we're going to set up a bed in the middle of Villa Borghese... You feel like a potential offender every time you read a message from them. 4. Sleeping - the couch is very dusty and sleeping in this room can be challenging due to the noise from the street. But, more importantly, if someone is sleeping in the living room on the couch and someone in the bedroom, night trips to the bathroom will wake the person in the living room because the bathroom is accessed only through passing the living room. 5. Bathroom - if you like Joe Rogan and the concept of contrast showering (constantly switching from hot to cold) - this is the place for you. The instant water heater works on intervals so you get something like 15sec hot water and 15 sec cold hahaha! The space looks like it's not usually deep-cleaned. The overall feel of the place is - let's put as little of an effort to get as much value as possible :/ With a bit more care, this apartment can become a very pleasant stay.
