    Location was perfect. Quiet side street only 5 minute walk from the town centre and beach.

    We booked to stay here but ended up staying at their sister hotel Zanzibar Town Nest as they were closed for renovations. Happy with the new accommodation but did miss not having a kitchen.

    Terrible

    Everything - the booking was cancelled without formal notification. I suspiciously received an email from booking.com thanking/hoping we enjoyed our stay on the day we were to arrive. I immediately contacted the property asking for clarification. The response received just said follow the initial instructions on how to get the keys. We arrived at night and told the apartment was not available. We were told different stories about what the problem was with booked apartment. The alternative provided at the location we were to collect the keys “Town Nest” was no where near what we booked. Staff tried to offer yet another alternative but the location was not great. We were forced to find our own place late at night. We all the stress and hassle such a situation can cause in a country you have never visited before. I have a suspicion that the apartment was offered to another customer who booked direct who either offered more money/ number of days. The least the owner could have done is let us know much sooner so that we could have made arrangements prior. Rating is based on the experience as we didn’t even get to the appartment!
