Very disappointing experience. We booked this house through Booking.com, with the stated check-in time of 2:00–8:00 PM. Nobody asked us in advance what time we would arrive. We were only told to inform the property about our arrival 1–2 hours beforehand. On the day of check-in, at around 4:00 PM, we were informed that the house was ready. At 4:14 PM, we notified the property through Booking.com that we would arrive within an hour. At 4:39 PM, we also contacted Ivan directly, and at 4:54 PM, after receiving no response, I called him. Ivan told us that they had supposedly been waiting for us since 2:00 PM, although we had never agreed on a 2:00 PM arrival time and had never been told that someone would be waiting for us then. At 5:58 PM, a woman contacted us and said she would bring the keys within 30 minutes. This did not happen. We finally received the keys at 7:00 PM. As a result, we spent more than two hours waiting outside with our child after a long journey. Our child was feeling unwell and exhausted, which made the situation especially stressful. What was even more shocking was what we learned when the woman finally brought us the keys. She told us that the day before, the host had instructed her to lock the house and take the keys because he had not received the payment. So apparently, nobody had actually been expecting us, despite our confirmed Booking.com reservation. I had no control over when Booking.com processed or transferred the payment. If there was a payment issue, the host should have contacted us or Booking.com and resolved it before our arrival — not leave guests with a child outside for hours. Afterwards, I tried to resolve the situation peacefully and proposed discussing 50% compensation for the inconvenience. Instead, the host responded rudely and refused to resolve the problem. What is particularly frustrating is that the following day, exactly at 12:00 PM, people were already waiting for us for check-out.
