  The photos do not represent reality. Unacceptably dirty, poorly maintained and unsafe

  I have used Booking.com for many years and have generally found property descriptions and photographs reliable and representative. This was the first time I experienced such a serious discrepancy between the property presented on the platform and its actual condition: the apartment (Argo 2) was unacceptably dirty, poorly maintained and, in our view, unsafe. This was not a matter of minor cleanliness issues; the level of dirt, damage and neglect was extensive. Among other things: -Four of the five pillows were in very poor condition. One was almost completely worn out and empty, with the remaining foam broken into small, hard pieces. We reported this via WhatsApp to Ms. Martina Majcen and requested a replacement. After asking for a photograph, she replied that “the cushion is in good condition and suitable for normal use.” -All kitchen chairs were extremely dirty, and the bedroom chairs had greasy stains. -The couch was dirty, worn and torn, with a blanket placed over it to conceal the damage. -There was significant dirt and what appeared to be mould in the corners, while spider webs were visible on the ceiling. -The apartment had a strong odour of cigarette smoke and mould; the smell in the bathroom was particularly repulsive. -At the entrance, there was a shoe rack containing slippers which were dirty and used. -The bed sheets were visibly wrinkled and, given the overall condition of the apartment, we were no longer confident that the bedding had been freshly changed. The towels had grey stains. -Most concerning were the electrical light switches, which were improperly secured. We were uncomfortable touching them and did not consider the apartment a safe environment for our group. Because of these conditions, we had no reasonable alternative but to leave the property and make a new reservation immediately. The property we received was not consistent with the accommodation represented in the listing.
