    The room and bathroom were decently clean (albeit not very lovingly furnitured) and the host waited for me until 11.30 p.m. for my late check in, because of a train delay.

    I couldn’t really shake off the feeling that the host was trying to make an extra buck out of every opportunity that arose. Starting with a slightly overpriced breakfast, a super-overpriced laundry (think 5 times of what i paid in my last guest house) up to the tuktuk that took me back to the train station.

    A great base for exploring this amazing city.

    The location was good: a little far from the big sights of Polonnaruwa, but very quiet and peaceful. The dining area was lovely and the food excellent. The mosquito net was needed, and worked.
