Cosy!!
I have stayed in 7 hostels in Australia so far and this is my favourite one. It’s a smaller hostel, which gives it a more of a family/homely feeling. A lot of thought has gone into the design and it gives the place a lot of soul and it had a real hostel feel to it. Good for solo travellers staying short-term as the long-term guests are very friendly and actually say “hello”. I have found the long-term guest at some other hostels, who are on WHV, quite moody and unwelcoming, but here they are very nice! Crazy what smiling does and it’s free The owners and manager here are very kind and approachable and are willing to chat with you. They create a positive atmosphere in the hostel! They are also very helpful at giving information whether it’s about the hostel, Cairns, or travel. Tim is an Arsenal fan also, which shows he’s a top guy! It was a very relaxing and peaceful stay. Very quiet in the evenings and the bed was very comfy. I slept great every night They have a freezer, which seems rare for a hostel. There’s plenty of space to dry clothes and lots of spaces to relax. Yoga mats provided and there’s a dumbbell (hidden away by the washing line), which I did a workout with one day (15kg with the plates I believe) - saved me paying 20 dollars for a day pass at the gym (small wins). Excellent hostel and highly recommend staying here!

A comfortable, safe and quiet hostel with lots of spaces to chill and a great tropical feel.
Loved the old style building and the range of indoor/outdoor and in-between spaces to sit or eat. Nice garden setting. Over the road from the Cairns Central Shopping centre and the railway station. Interesting coffee shop on the corner right next door. Strict policies on noise, and people seemed to appreciate and follow the policies. Friendly staff.
Walking into town required navigating a busy road, a car park and the back entrance to Cairns Central Shopping Centre. A longish walk to the Esplanade and Night Markets. The pots and pans in the kitchens need replacing, especially the non-stick frypans that are clearly flaking off bits of metal into food.
