Great ryokan situated in the heart of Kurokawa Onsen
Thank you! I had a wonderful stay at Fujiya and would love to stay again. Staff were friendly and accommodating and even helped me to dry/clean my shoes. English communication skill was great.

Fujiya is a beautiful ryokan in the centre of Kurokawa town. We had a great time walking around the town in our yukata, going from onsen to onsen. The food was amazing, served in a private dining room. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, although Fujiya and the town as a whole were great, I have lowered the rating a lot due to our room. Most of the rooms in the inn look out over the river, which sounds lovely. Ours, however, faced the mountain, and was directly above the big machine that they use for the onsen. This meant hearing the mechanical rumbling constantly, including throughout the night. It was to the point where I could not sleep and needed to ask for a room change in the night, which they kindly accommodated. However, if the inn is full, I imagine this is not an option. If you are sensitive to noise, I really would not recommend - it was worse than in any city hotel that we stayed in Japan. Aside from the sleep, it really detracts from the experience of being in a peaceful retreat in the mountains.
