Gorgeous cottage
Location was perfect for us- out of town and quiet, easy to find and right on a great walk. Easy access to the town and scenic drives. The cottage is gorgeous- we loved the warmth of the timber, the furnishings and the courtyard was divine. The bed was firm but comfortable and pillows were lovely and soft. Breakfast provisions were nice and generous. Loved the French touch with the baguette for breakfast! Peter welcomed us warmly and communication in the lead up to our stay was clear and prompt. He also provided excellent recommendations for dinner and walks. The welcome note on the blackboard at the door was lovely too. Oh, and I didn’t mention the gardens- they are amazing.
Nothing- we loved it, but a fry pan or such would be good if a guest wanted to home cook a meal.

Gorgeous boutique retreat, lovely hosts, we would stay there again.
The Gate keepers cottage is gorgeous. A perfect retreat. Surrounded by gardens and bush makes it a beautiful spot with lots of bird songs to listen to. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. A 5 minute drive to Akaroa town. A bit too far to walk. The continental breakfast provided was perfect. I would recommend staying here.
Only thing it s a bit far to walk to town. The vineyard offered a shuttle to pick up and drop off for dinner so that solved that problem.
